Firefighters discover Las Vegas resident has 'homemade gas station' in his backyard
Having a vegetable garden in your backyard is one thing, but having a fully functional gas station in your yard takes it to a whole other extremely hazardous level. Imagine the responding firefighters' surprise when they discovered a "homemade gas station" in a resident's backyard.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue shared images on their Facebook page showing two large, yellow fuel tanks and a gas pump that was found in the back yard of a home. According to Fire and Rescue, the pump's hose was long enough to stretch to the street for curbside fill ups.
The accompanying post said, "Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police & City of Las Vegas Code Enforcement responded to a home in the city of Las Vegas today with a homemade gas station in the backyard."
They added, "This is not only illegal in the city, it is a hazard to neighbors and first responders, who may respond there for an emergency, like a fire. Citations are possible and certainly any costs for abatement for any environmental impacts it caused."
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the investigation is ongoing.
