Jilted lover breaks into prison to beg incarcerated girlfriend to take him back

How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.  Or, in this case, the altitude.

As reported by the German news website DW.com, an unidentified 18-year-old German boy was apprehended Thursday after scaling a prison wall to beg his incarcerated true love to take him back.

The lad reportedly was heartbroken after his girlfriend, an inmate at the prison in the northwestern German town of Vechta, broke off their relationship over the phone.  Undaunted, the ex-boyfriend made his way to the prison and used a lamppost to climb over a 13-foot-high brick-and-mortar prison wall that was also topped with razor wire.  Rather than risk his clothes getting caught on the wire, he reportedly removed most of them before attempting the climb.

Then once over the wall, the love-struck suitor scaled the detention center wall to reach the barred window of his ex's cell, where he pleaded with her to take him back.

Not surprisingly, the ruckus attracted the attention of prison officials, who demanded that the young man climb down.  When he refused, firefighters were called and, with the assistance of a ladder, they finally removed the man from the wall, and the premises.

The 18-year-old's actions are currently under investigation ahead of possible charges.  In the meantime, prison officials said they will probably wrap that pesky lamppost in razor wire, too.
