Massachusetts town gives up on replacing constantly stolen Old Town Road sign
When you hear "Old Town Road," you most likely think about musician Lil' Nas X's historic Billboard chart-topping song. However, in Wellesley, MA, it's an actual street that's paying the price of fame.
Town officials say they're giving up on replacing the town's Old Town Road street sign because it's constantly being stolen -- three times so far, with a replacement cost each time of over $300.
The town government confirmed on its website, "Currently the street sign posts are empty. The Department of Public Works is waiting for the song's popularity to fade before replacing the signs again."
Lil' Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' mega-hit "Old Town Road" has dominated the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for a whopping 18 weeks, making it the longest-running number-one song in history.
