NYC's newest, trendy hair salon is a public bicycle
To paraphrase Sinatra, "If you can cut it here, you can cut it anywhere."
Julien Howard is a New York City-based barber who's styled everyone from NBA superstar Kevin Durantto Josh Groban. Known as the "Vélo Barber," Howard doesn't work out of a salon. Instead, he travels to his clients -- funeral homes, dental labs, or even in the middle of the street.
The New York Post recently caught up with the 27-year-old while he was working in the trendy lower Manhattan SoHo neighborhood. Howard seated his client on a parked Citi Bike -- those public bicycles available throughout New York. The bike basket next to him served as a counter. Howard made sure to drape a cape over the customer, although it's unknown if he swept up afterward.
If you're wondering, New Yorkers pay Howard $100 to cut their hair during "normal business hours" -- on a bicycle.
"Money is great, but the experience and relationships you build is what really matters," he told the Post.
