Sugar-crazed burglar steals $1,240 in sweets from Daytona concession stand
Daytona police are scratching their heads over a mysterious sweet-toothed burglar who made off with over $1,000 in sugary snacks from a local concessions stand.
Click Orlando reports that an unknown man entered a cotton candy kiosk at Boardwalk Daytona Lagoon Amusements & Rides around midnight on Tuesday. There, surveillance video catches him handing out items to pedestrians walking by. A homeless man confirmed the video footage, saying to police that the burglar handed out cotton candy and other food items to those walking by.
The Florida business owners assessed the damage when they opened up shop in the morning. They claim the sugar-obsessed fiend made off with 13 boxes of candy, 12 bags of cotton candy, nine gallons of ice cream, three trays of caramel apples, three trays of candy apples, four boxes of Twinkies, four boxes of frozen bananas, six two-liter bottles of soda, and two boxes of Oreo cookies -- a total of $1,240 in stolen goods.
This isn't the first time a sweet-toothed thief targeted the same kiosk: one of their freezers were broken into a few weeks ago.
