Woman arrested for filing a false police report using fake blood, makeup
Hot tip to any potential criminals in Manchester, New Hampshire: your local police can tell the difference between real blood and the stuff they sell for Halloween.
Manchester Police responded to a reported assault earlier this week when, according to the department's Facebook page, 20-year-old Christie Benoit claimed a neighbor punched and scratched her after breaking down her door.
Authorities found a disheveled apartment and what appeared to be blood stains. But after a closer examination, the red substance wasn't consistent with actual blood.
"They also found a plastic tube of vampire blood commonly used at Halloween," said Heather Hamel, a spokesperson for the police department. "It was also determined that the blackness around her eyes was make-up."
The only thing that was real: the charges levied against Benoit. She was arrested for falsifying evidence and filing a false police report. The 20-year-old is due in court later this month.
